The organization represents 41 business located here at the Hunts Point Terminal Market and was founded when the terminal opened in 1967. The association was in the midst of implementing a "new complex computer system," developed by Brampton, ON-based Waudware Inc. That would enable prospective buyers to fill out a credit application on-line and, most important, let companies to see how much financial exposure certain buyers have at any given time in the market. The New York Produce Trade Association is also working with the Hunts Point Economic Development Corp. to save money on energy throughout this market which can save hundreds of thousands of dollars.
